About Us
I grew up with parents that both had a green thumb. When I was young we would make the trip to Abilene to go grocery shopping and my mom would drag me around to shop for plants. Ironically, I hated it. I used to beg her not to make me go with her, but there was something about having our house full of plants that just made it feel like home. In the winter, my parents would bring all of the potted plants inside so they wouldn’t freeze. Every corner of our house was full. Short plants, plants that almost reached the ceiling, plants hanging from the ceiling in front of the windows- they were everywhere. As much as I didn’t enjoy being dragged along to go plant shopping, I secretly loved that time of year when our house turned into a little jungle. Once I got older and lived on my own, I bought a houseplant here and there. Honestly, I mostly neglected them. Life was busy. I have been a stay at home mom of 4 for 17 years now, and one day I woke up and just felt it was time for me to find some hobbies and do things that felt fulfilling for me. It was really no surprise that thing turned out to be plants. What started as 6 plants quickly turned into 60. They bring so much comfort and calmness and I love watching them grow. I get so excited over every new leaf. I always knew I wanted to have a business of my own one day, and I’m so excited to be bringing Lily Lane Plant Co. to Abilene, where we will offer a wide variety of house plants. We have both common, and more rare sought after plants that you can’t find anywhere else.
LLPC was named after my two oldest daughters whose middle names are Lily and Lane. I felt that was the perfect name for a plant shop. I want our store to be a place for people to come and also get that feeling of calm and peace, and be able to take a little of that home with them. We aren’t just a plant shop, but also a place for community. I want to also provide all the resources needed to be able to feel confident in your ability to care for that plant once you get it home. We have everything you need to care for your plants, from pots to plant food, as well as repotting services. Anyone who is struggling with keeping their plants alive at home will find we can be a great resource and I can’t wait to help you learn how to make them thrive in your home.
